8,000 Tons Pistachios Export in June

Iran Pistachio Association – Trade Committee:

According to the data reported by Iran’s Customs Administration, Iran’s total pistachio and pistachio kernel exports
in June 2025 accounted for 8,000 tons. The CIS countries, re-exporting countries (most notably the UAE and Turkey), and the Middle East were this month’s top three destinations for Iranian pistachios.

During the period October 2024 to June 2025, approximately 196,000 metric tons of pistachios (in-shell equivalent) were consumed. Of this quantity, around 171,000 tons were shipped abroad, and 25,000 tons were consumed locally.

A fascinating aspect of the performance of the current year has been the 46% kernel and green kernel share of the total pistachio export (in-shell equivalent), compared with a five-year average of 36%. The increase is indicative of a rising world demand for pistachio kernels in the global food processing industry.

The ratio of cumulative use to beginning stock was 85% as of June’s end—a significant figure compared with the two-year 68% average, indicative of a high degree of demand for Iranian pistachios this season.
The Iran Pistachio Association will also likely need to upwardly adjust its own estimate of production in the prior crop year by the end of the season.
