8,000 Tons Pistachios Export in June

Iranian Pistachio Association Export Report

According to the Iranian Customs Administration, Iran exported 8,000 tons of pistachios and pistachio kernels in June 2025. The main destinations for these exports were the Commonwealth countries, re-export hubs such as the United Arab Emirates and Turkey, and the Middle East.

Pistachio Consumption in 2024–2025

From October 2024 to June 2025, total pistachio consumption reached about 196,000 tons (pistachio shell equivalent). Of this volume:

  • 171,000 tons were exported.
  • Around 25,000 tons were consumed inside Iran.

This indicates the strong role of exports in the pistachio market.

Rising Share of Pistachio Kernels

The highlight of this season is the increasing share of green nuts and kernels in exports. In fact, they account for 46% of total exports (in-shell equivalent).

This figure is well above the five-year average of 36%. Therefore, it indicates a growing global demand for pistachio kernels in the food processing industry.

Strong Demand in Global Markets

By the end of June, the ratio of cumulative consumption to initial inventory was 85 percent. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the two-year average of 68 percent. It is clear that demand for Iranian pistachios has been very strong this season.

Outlook for Production Estimates

Given this high demand and strong performance, the Iranian Pistachio Association may need to revise its estimate of last year’s production upwards before the end of the season.
