US Pistachio Report – October 2025
The US pistachio industry began the 2025 business year with a large supply of product. At the beginning of the year, more than 750,000 tons of pistachios of various varieties were available. The largest share belonged to open-shelled pistachios, followed by closed-shelled pistachios, hard-shelled pistachios, and pistachio kernels. Pistachio kernels, although smaller in volume, are still important because they are widely used in food production.
During the first two months, several adjustments were made to the inventory. These adjustments included natural weight loss, losses that occur during shelling, and a few other minor adjustments. After these adjustments, a significant amount of pistachios remained ready for sale in the domestic and export markets.
Sales in October 2025 were mainly driven by exports. Domestic consumption was stable but much lower compared to international demand. Shelled pistachios were the main product shipped abroad, while kernel pistachios continued to be in good demand in both markets.
As of the end of October, the industry had approximately 60,915 tons of pistachios in storage. This is sufficient to support a steady supply in the coming months. Overall, the October report reflects a productive year, strong export performance, and stable inventories. Pistachios continue to be a valuable product for the United States, especially in global trade.
